GLOBAL document processing company Xerox has adopted an internet-based business-to-business travel booking system for 20,000 employees in the United States.

Xerox is rolling out the GetThere.com system for the procurement of car hire, flights and hotels, with the prospect of introducing the system to Europe if it proves successful.

A spokesman for Xerox said that its United States division often pioneered new corporate practices that were subsequently brought to other operations around the world.

GetThere automatically provides travellers with the lowest fares available, including their company's negotiated discounts, and informs them when they are not complying with the official company travel policy.

Pam Moll, Xerox's travel services manager, said: 'Online booking is the perfect example of how we can provide a convenient and valuable service to employees and actually reduce the overall corporate travel costs.

'By complying with policies and using negotiated rates, Xerox can save significantly.' (May 2000)
