TRAFFIC in London is moving at its slowest speed for a hundred years.

A study published by Transport for London revealed average traffic speeds in central London have dropped by 20% over the past 20 years from 12.3 mph to 10 mph.

The findings show it took drivers an average of 56 minutes to travel to work in central London, more than twice the average UK commuting time. The number of drivers entering the City has also increased. In 2000, 1.1 million people entered on a weekday between 7 am and 10 am - up 4% on 1999.
