MANHEIM Scottish Auctions Glasgow has introduced two new weekly fleet sales.

The recently-expanded Glasgow premises now disposes of more than 150 ex-fleet cars every Tuesday on behalf of vendors such as First National, ALD Automotive and Arval PHH, while every Wednesday will see more than 100 vans offered for sale from the likes of the Royal Mail and Lex Vehicle Leasing.

This is the first time the site, which is a joint venture between Manheim Auctions and Scottish Motor Auctions Group (SMAG), has held weekly fleet sales for both cars and commercials.

The move has been made possible by the opening of a second auction hall earlier this year and the expansion of the site's undercover storage area to 50,000 square feet.

'We have gradually increased the number of car and van fleet sales from two to eight a month over the past two years, which has been made possible by Manheim and SMAG developing the site's infrastructure through a massive investment programme,' said Manheim Auctions' operations director Mark Yates. He added that fleet car and van sales had grown from 10% to more than 50% of the site's volume over the past 18 months.

  • Manheim Auctions Haydock hosted a special Saturday sale for Royal Mail and achieved a 100% conversion rate on a range of cars and light commercial vehicles. The company said such sales benefited buyers unable to attend weekday sales. It currently runs Saturday sales every six weeks or so across its network of auction centres.
