FORECASTERS predict that the global telematics industry will be worth nearly £40 billion by 2010 and that an estimated 56 million cars will be fitted with telematics systems by 2005.

Christopher Macgowan, chief executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, told delegates at the Fleet News Move Your Fleet Online conference: 'Intelligent transport systems have led to a revolution that has encouraged major vehicle manufacturers to embrace the concept and develop capabilities.'
