THE Government has announced a new training strategy designed to ease the skills shortage in the motor industry.

The Skills Strategy White Paper, which aims to increase training opportunities for technicians, body repairers and refinishers, will offer free learning to adults.

Stephen Ramsay, managing director of training body ReMIT, said: 'If successfully enacted, the strategy could be great news for the industry and could help encourage more young people to make a career in the retail motor sector.'
