Dame Sheila dies

ONE of the country's most ardent champions of people's rights, who claimed a victory in 2000 after organising the Great British Rip-Off campaign against high car prices, has died from cancer.

Dame Sheila McKechnie, 55, was director of the Consumers' Association.
