FLEET managers with a joint car parc of more than 50,000 vehicles have discussed the best way to set up risk management strategies.

Decision-makers from fleets including telecommunications giant BT, vehicle rental group Ryder and the Northern Foods Group’s transport division (NFT) examined best practice ideas and set up benchmarks for dealing with risk management at a forum organised by Interactive Driving Systems.

John Barnsley, quality and safety manager at NFT, said: ‘Benchmaking is an important way of comparing performance measures between similar fleet sizes.’

Paul Gallemore, health and safety manager at Ryder Europe, said: ‘The meeting encouraged us to cut our data in ways that we have never done before, giving us new insights into specific areas of our risk.’
