Transporter debuts

USED sales of Volkswagen's new T5 Transporter van have been launched at Manheim Auctions Coventry.

The closed sale was attended by commercial dealers from Volkswagen's assured van dealer network across the UK.

Strong bidding for vehicles mean premiums were achieved. The workhorse derivative, the 2003 T28 1.9 TDi short wheelbase panel van averaged just under £9,700 at 3,000 miles.

Alex Wright, Manheim's commercial vehicle director, said: 'The previous generation T4 has been one of the strongest residual value achievers over the past 10 years with a very strong following from buyers.

'The fact that vehicles with more than 300,000 miles on the clock are still selling well at auction is testament to the strength and reliability of the model.'

A Volkswagen spokesman said: 'The continued popularity of our commercial vehicle has been confirmed by the success of this sale.'
