KIA is contacting Sorento customers to recall 4,652 cars following two safety related issues.

Although no cases of problems have been reported in the UK, 3,500 cars will have an alternator pulley replaced to avoid the risk of its seizing and displacing the alternator belt. This can result in increased steering and braking effort being required.

An additional 1,152 customers are being contacted for automatic transmissions to be replaced because a retaining ring inside the transmission might come loose.

Although no incidents have been reported in the UK it is possible that a vehicle might roll forward while in reverse gear.

Both alternator pulleys and automatic transmissions will be replaced free of charge.
