Skoda expands fleet network

SKODA is ready to launch an expanded network of business centres as part of a major drive to win more British fleet customers.

The network of 36 business sales centres, which will grow to 40 by the end of the year, is supported by managers covering the north and south of the country and will focus on sub-100 fleets.

Skoda has also developed a national business centre and increased the size of its fleet team as part of the focus on building its fleet sales to fleets of all sizes, including a two-member team focused on contract hire and leasing companies. The move reflects Skoda’s rapid growth in both fleet and retail sales in recent years.

Fleet sales in 2003 for Skoda were about 9,000 units rising last year to 10,000. Overall, Skoda registered 35,029 vehicles last year.

According to Martin Burke, the firm’s head of business sales, Skoda is heading for 20,000 fleet sales within the next five years as it aims for an overall market share of 2%.

Burke added: ‘Skoda is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and during that time, it has been clear that how you treat customers is the roof and pillars of any successful company.

‘This growth is not going to be overnight and we will be prudent, but the issue is people seeing the car and driving it.

‘Also, by delivering great levels of customer service and satisfaction you grow the business that way.’
