Jaguar XJ TDVi

FINALLY, Jaguar has got in on the luxury diesel act with the XJ TDVi. Using the same 2.7-litre twin-turbo diesel as found in the smaller S-type, the XJ can now take the fight to the Mercedes-Benz S-class, Audi A8 and BMW 7-series. As well as ensuring fuel economy and emissions are up with the class leaders, Jaguar has paid special attention to refinement with the new diesel model. Prices start at £43,995 on-the-road.

NOT content with building the best-handling cars in most sectors, BMW is launching a barrage of new models. For those on the first management step there’s a host of new 3-series, with new engines and the addition of the estate Touring. For more senior personnel, there are two new V8 engines in the 5 and 6-series. The X3 SUV also gains two new powerplants, while a long-wheelbase 730d also debuts.
