Dodge Caliber
THE Caliber is the first serious attempt by Dodge to find buyers in the UK. Although the firm has imported left-hand drive versions of its Viper supercar and Ram monster truck, the Caliber is a more sensible car – it’s right-hand drive and even offers a Volkswagen turbodiesel engine option.
The styling is chunky to set it apart from other lower-medium models and prices start at a reasonable £11,495.
Ford S-MAX
THE S-MAX is a smaller version of Ford’s Galaxy people carrier. However, it can still accommodate seven adults in its flexible interior, although the S-MAX majors more on being a sporty alternative for families. Prices start at a whisker under £17,000 for the 2.0-litre petrol LX, rising to £21,995 for the 217bhp 2.5-litre petrol Titanium. there are also two TDCi turbodiesels in 1.8 and 2.0-litre guises.
