Paul Hainsworth joined Avis as operations director last November. After six months in the role he has now been promoted to fleet and network development director. Fleet News catches up with him.
After 13 years working at BP how have you found the rental industry?
It is fascinating – a much more complex customer base and supply chain than I'd expected or experienced. Simplifying this complexity and building greater co-operation with all our customers and supply chain partners is what we are looking to achieve in Avis.
What goals are you working towards at the moment?
I am looking to change the way we work with all our customers and supply chain partners to build alignment around the value that rental adds, while minimising our collective costs. In practical terms this is currently focused on developing the partnership with manufacturers and airport authorities.
What is the best aspect of working in rental?
The people in the industry. There is a remarkable commitment to do the right thing for the customer and the company in a highly dynamic environment.
