Simon Cook, automotive director, Mondial UK

  • What is a typical day for you?

I start between 7.30am and 8am and write my “to do” list. If I am in the office I normally have meetings to attend with existing clients, prospects, international colleagues and the team here.

  • Has it taken you long to find your feet in your new role?

In some respects it has been a steep learning curve.

  • What are you working on at the moment?

We are working on two major roadside assistance proposals, one tactical extended test drive campaign for a Japanese marque’s retail group, budgets and strategy planning for 2008.

  • Did you always plan a career in motoring?

Yes. It is a huge cliché, but the one omnipresent in the motor industry is change and that appeals.

  • Are you following a career path?

I am more concerned with enjoying my job, making my mark and earning the respect of my peers.

  • Who do you most admire in the business world?

Sir Terence Leahy, chief executive of Tesco.
