Louise Claydon, facilities office & car fleet manager, CGG Veritas

  • How many vehicles are on your fleet?

We have 30 company cars on contract hire but managing duty of care for private vehicles used on business makes it demanding.

  • How long have you been in the industry?

Six years, beginning with fleet administration and working my way up to fully qualified fleet management.

  • What is your career history prior to fleet?

I began my career in secretarial and administrative roles, and became involved in fleet by accident.

  • Do you think there is enough training available for fleet managers?

The ICFM provides structured training courses. However, sources of training are limited.

  • What would make your life easier at work?

If drivers had a pre-programmed sense of road safety and a will to comply with procedures.

Most drivers think they are the best already which makes it difficult to change attitudes.

  • Who do you most admire?

    Successful entrepreneurs like Richard Branson.
