The results of a survey of hundreds of commercial drivers have been combined into a seasonal wish list to make their lives on the road easier during this festive period.

Britain’s van drivers will deliver more than two billion presents over the coming weeks.

Vansunited polled over 1,700 van drivers to garner some of the top issues they face at Christmas.

The survey also highlights the improvements they would like to see and in a seasonal initiative.

Almost a half of all presents purchased are now via online outlets – meaning there will be more delivery drivers on the road than ever.

The top 10 Christmas wishes are:

  • More leniency and accuracy from traffic wardens
  • Drivers to ensure their cars are roadworthy
  • Parents to show more patience with children when out shopping /driving
  • Drivers to take more care in bad weather
  • A designated van lane for deliveries over the Christmas period
  • More consideration from other drivers
  • Don’t park too close to loading doors
  • Don’t park in loading only bays
  • Drivers and pedestrians to show more Christmas spirit to all working drivers
  • People to buy their gifts in advance
