Finland rapped over restrictions

THE European Court of Justice (ECJ) has censured Finland for requiring drivers of vehicles who motor in the country for more than a week to secure Finnish registration, at the full fee rate, even if the car is legally registered elsewhere in the European Union (EU).

Judges ruled the system broke Finland’s EU treaty commitments on the free movement of goods between EU member states, effectively ordering it to liberalise.
