Another week and another faux-4x4.

After last week’s SEAT Altea Freetrack and the Renault Scenic Conquest, Volkswagen is getting in on the act with the Golf Plus Dune. Based on the Golf Plus, the Dune version features a raised ride height, some additional body cladding and a 1.9-litre turbodiesel engine with 105bhp. As it doesn’t have four-wheel drive, the Dune is claimed to return up to 50.4mpg and emit 148g/km of CO2.

The Golf Plus Dune is available to order now, priced at £18,495.

  • Volkswagen has revealed that a new seven-speed DSG clutchless manual gearbox will go into production this year. Its first application will be in the Golf 1.4 TSI and 1.9 TDI models.
