The Highways Agency has launched an updated version of its digital radio station, Traffic Radio.

The updated version will now be broadcast live 24 hours a day from the Highways Agency's National Traffic Control Centre in Birmingham.

Available on digital radio and via www.trafficradio.org.uk the radio service provides details of traffic conditions on motorways, major A roads in England and London's major routes, as well as updates on emergency incidents and congestion due to roadworks.

The presenters have access to information from 3,750 road sensors and over 1,000 CCTV cameras.

This will be supplemented by reports from Highways Agency staff out on the roads, the police and feedback from planes and helicopters.
