Spotted being thrashed around the Nürburgring is the disguised Saab 9-4X.

Due to hit the roads next year, the SUV is based on an all-new platform to be shared with Cadillac, who will turn it into the new SRX replacement, the BRX.

Expect a new 2.9-litre diesel V6 to slot under the bonnet on this side of the Atlantic.

The styling has been hinted at by Saab’s 9-4X Biopower concept and the Cadillac Provoq.

The Biopower name signified that the concept’s 2.0-litre turbocharged engine could run on E85 bioethanol.

Saab UK hopes the production version continues in the same vein.
