Ford and Peugeot confirm post-scrappage fleet focus

Addressing what to do at the end of scrappage, Peugeot UK boss Jon Goodman told Headlineauto that he will be relying on new products rather than introducing Peugeot's own version of a scrappage scheme as other manufacturers are doing.

He also said that a key move will be Peugeot's focus on winning more fleet business. "We have taken on nine new people in our fleet department so that we can get in front of more customers."

Fleet News reported in December last year that Peugeot is strengthening its fleet sales team.

Fleet business is one reason why Ford of Britain managing director Nigel Sharp is optimistic. "Fleet managers have been extending leases in the current economic climate but they can only do that for so long.

"They will have to refresh their fleets before they lose out on residual values."
