SsangYong UK has hired a new marketing and communications director ahead of the brand’s return to Britain with the launch of the new Korando.

Steve Gray has joined SsangYongUK but has wide-ranging experience across various vehicle brands.

He became marketing director of the Chrysler Group after successfully bringing the Chrysler and Jeep brands to the UK while working at TKM Automotive (which became part of Inchcape) in 1992.

CEO of SsangYong Motor UK, Paul Williams, said: "Having worked across Land Rover, Daihatsu, Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge, Steve has an automotive marketing pedigree that is absolutely tailored to SsangYong’s current position and the job we have to do.

"I can’t think of anyone better suited to successfully re-position the brand and launch the new car."

The Korando will be on sale from September priced from £16,995 on the road.
