Police received a call at 8pm on Tuesday (March 12) following a report that the 63-year-old was missing from his home in Over Dinsdale, near Northallerton.

Officers carried out a search of the area around his home and sadly found his body a short time later.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and no one else is being sought in connection with the incident.”

Fleet was well known in the industry having worked at Northgate Vehicle Hire for more than 14 years. He had previously been managing director of Arriva Rental and prior to that worked at Avis Rent A Car for 20 years.

A spokesman at Northgate Vehicle Hire said: “Our thoughts and wishes are with the family at this incredibly difficult time.

“In advance, we appreciate the support of customers, colleagues and members of the local community and trust wishes for privacy will be respected. We will also be providing support for employees.”
