Fleet consultancy and risk management specialist, TR Fleet, has added a BTEC in safe driving to its bespoke DriveSecure risk management programme to support companies in reducing road accidents and insurance premiums.

The BTEC Level 2 Award will now be available to any business signing up to DriveSecure, giving employers the option to enrol employees driving on company business onto the training programme.

Delivered by a network of qualified driving instructors, the BTEC includes both theoretical and practical assessments to change attitudes, increase driving standards and reduce accidents.

It is designed to make fleet drivers more aware of their impact on other road users and the role they play in representing their company.

Julie Summerell, managing director at TR Fleet, said: “A poor accident record is the biggest factor affecting insurance costs for fleets. The BTEC in Safe Driving has been welcomed by insurance companies due to the significant reduction in claims from drivers completing the course. This impact has resulted in reduced premiums with participating businesses reporting reductions of up to 25%.

“Responsible companies are continually looking to reduce risk in the workplace and safeguard the wellbeing of their employees. Our BTEC provides them with a proven tool to reduce the risks associated with company driving, whilst also tackling rising premiums.”
