Road safety officer Keith Baldock said “Speed reduces your time/distance to react and increases the energy in a collision, which is why speed limits are set as they are.  Not just because you, as a driver, can make a mistake but because other road users can as well and you need time to react.”

Whilst speeding is improving with the majority of cases, it will be interesting to see how this continues to play out- whether there will continue to be dramatic changes from one year to the next or whether it will be a steady decline.
