ALD Automotive will help its customers accelerate their transition to electric vehicles through a new partnership with ChargePoint.

Under a new agreement, the charge point specialist will provide expertise and charging solutions to ALD Clients in more than nine European markets.

“This partnership agreement with ChargePoint fully supports our sustainable growth strategy to work with industry leading partners in order to broaden the company’s offering and electrify mobility,” said Tim Albertsen, deputy CEO at ALD. “It is not just about replacing a diesel with an electric vehicle, it is about trying to invent new or enhance existing services to facilitate the change and we believe that this agreement, and the ALD Electric approach as a whole, will play an important role in accelerating the energy transition.”

The service will include a digital on-boarding experience, billing solution, installation and maintenance, customer support and smart chargers.

Home charging solutions will also be available for drivers as well as access to a network of public places to charge around Europe.

A joint end-to-end electric vehicle solution will be rolled out across Europe over the next few months. It will help reinforce ALD’s current EV coverage by improving and complementing existing e-mobility partnerships, with energy suppliers in particular.

This initiative is part of ALD Electric, a package of five key services:

  • Consultancy services dedicated to the energy transition, helping clients to identify the right vehicle for the right usage and encouraging the adoption of new forms of mobility
  • Test driving services with electrically-chargeable vehicles
  • Smart charging infrastructure (home and office chargers, as well as public network access)
  • Reporting and payments with dedicated digital access for drivers and fleet managers
  • Short-term rental flexibility with ALD Switch, a non-EV exchange service for longer journeys

Christopher Burghardt, managing director for Europe at ChargePoint, said: “Fleet operators and drivers alike are moving with increasing urgency to cleaner electric modes of transport and it’s incumbent on companies like ChargePoint, in collaboration with other ecosystem partners, to enable a more seamless and efficient way of moving people and goods. ChargePoint is dedicated to working with leaders, like ALD Automotive, across the transportation category and beyond to help pave the way to a more sustainable transportation future, and this partnership represents another important milestone in that commitment.”
