Transport Manager

Smart Solutions are working with a leading logistics client, who are currently seeking an experienced Transport Manager to join their successful team in the Hereford area. You will lead the transport team based in to ensure the exceptional service levels are maintained and will work together with the other members of the team to manage the overall transport operations.

You will have a CPC license and be able to go on the vehicle operators license for several of the other sites.

Hours of work: 04:00am - 13:00pm - Monday to Friday OR 10:00am to 19:00pm Monday to Friday. Flexibility (to an extent) on start times.

Knowledge and Responsibilities of this role (but not limited to)

* To bring in sales and be responsible for profit and loss.

* To be entrepreneurial, be able to support sales and onboard new customers from their own pipeline, and grow the group transport business.

* Set up and find profitable revenue for a vehicle fleet based in Ross-on-Wye

* Manage the bookings team, to ensure an efficient use of internal fleet and external hauliers; and that all customer goods are delivered within required timescales

* To manage a planning team that is efficient and organised. To serve customer needs and requirements. To create an atmosphere in the transport team that strives to improve and streamline a successful operation.

* To manage, audit and review compliance systems (O-License, vehicles, route, and driver audits) to ensure that the company is complaint with all government O-License requirements.

* To cover compliance requirements in other sites as needed
