Wimpey fleet chief redundant

WIMPEY fleet manager Peter Rosie who managed a 1,100 strong company fleet, has been made redundant following the company's asset swap with Tarmac. No decision has been made yet concerning the rest of Rosie's 30 staff or the in-house garage operation. The whole fleet now comes under Tarmac fleet manager Carl Lindley, who was already looking after 3,500 vehicles.

While Wimpey purchased vehicles outright, Tarmac's policy involved an in-house leaseback arrangement with the vehicles then contract hired to the various parts of the business. The swap involved Wimpey taking over Tarmac's housing division and Tarmac taking Wimpey's construction and minerals division.
