Car rental company Avis UK has reported that its Avis Flex service has seen a year-on-year increase of 50% since its launch last year.

The service is also witnessing a 20% month-on-month increase in car rentals as the demand from business customers continues to rise.

Avis Flex has more than 600 cars on rent each month and it continues to rise.

The flexible solution for long-term car rental offers customers a minimum commitment of just 28 days, without incurring any charges or penalties if the contract has to be cancelled unexpectedly early.

Not being tied to a long-term contract has appealed to a diverse range of business sectors, and offers a more cost effective alternative to leasing, where contracts are often a minimum of two years.

Small businesses in particular are driving the uptake and popularity of the service.

UK sales director Anthony Ainsworth said: “We are delighted to see such a positive reaction to Avis Flex and feel its popularity is a reflection of the current instability among business customers.

“The recession has forced organisations to reassess expenditure in every aspect and car rental is no exception.

In addition, Avis Flex offers immediate access to a wide range of vehicles, including the popular Avis Eco Collection.

The positive trend within business to meet CSR commitments is reflected in the increased demand for Avis’ Eco range of cars.
