Fourways Vehicle Solutions has appointed former managing director of Thrifty Rent a Car, Andrew Burton, as non-executive director.

Burton is well known within the rental industry and has extensive experience, having developed Thrifty’s UK presence through to 2006, when he sold the business to Scot Group.

In more recent times, he has been involved in Vehicle Rental Services, a rental vehicle supply operation recently acquired by Lookers.

The appointment of Burton is seen as perfect timing by Fourways managing director Andy Brown with the company adding further pace to their rapid expansion strategy in recent weeks, through the acquisition of Kar and Van Hire in Oswestry – boosting Fourways’ self-drive offering in the process.

Brown said: “Andrew’s philosophy of focusing on customer service fits in with the Fourways ethos.

“He has great experience, knowledge and contacts within the UK vehicle rental sector and his presence on our board can only be of benefit to us as we expand our operation.”

Burton added: “I was delighted to be able to accept the opportunity to join Fourways in this capacity.

“I have followed their steady progress since their inception in 2003 and look forward to helping them develop their proposition and presence in the UK market place.”

Brown concluded: “Both myself and the rest of the board are delighted that Andrew has agreed to join Fourways.

“We look forward to profiting from his insight and guidance as we continue on our exciting journey towards substantial growth and greater market share.”
