Extensive road trials of the Lightfoot driver behaviour system have proved a real success, with average net savings of more than £70,000 per four-year term for a fleet of 50 vans.

One company, which installed 100 vans with Lightfoot, also recorded a 50% drop in own-fault road traffic accidents.

During 2012, manufacturer Ashwoods Automotive conducted road trials with more than 20 UK fleets, ranging from delivery companies and construction contractors to utilities and local authorities.

Mark Roberts, managing director of Ashwoods Automotive, said: “Every single trial we conducted with Lightfoot delivered a significant increase in van MPG, ranging from 5% to 23%.

“Because Lightfoot is so competitively priced it can reduce fleet overheads while also lowering their fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

“Based on our real-world data, a fleet of 50 vans each travelling around 20,000 miles a year would save on average of more than £18,000 per annum by using Lightfoot.”

Ashwoods will be showcasing Lightfoot at the CV Show 2013. Lightfoot advises the driver on how to drive in a more efficient manner with the help of real time audio and visual aids.

It also monitors performance and sends a simple email report to the fleet manager on a weekly or monthly basis.

It is proactive, rather than reactive like most telematics or ‘track and trace’ systems which identify issues that fleet managers then have to deal with. And because the work is done in the cab, the reporting system is simple and requires little of the fleet manager’s time.

The monthly report that the fleet manager sees can help to evaluate what different vehicle operators need.

Some drivers may deserve recognition for efficiency whilst others might need additional driver training as their performance shows room for improvement, either way, Lightfoot shows you how your fleet is performing in a glance.

Trials are available for fleets to assess and measure the benefits of Lightfoot.
