Jaguar have unveiled their C-X17 sports crossover vehicle concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The vehicle may not enter production in its current form, however it will form the basis of future Jaguars, including a C/D segment saloon to be launched in 2015.

The concept includes four bucket seats, a panoramic roof, and additional ‘leisure seats’ within the boot floor.

Technology on display includes an interactive entertainment hub for driver and passengers, and in-car wi-fi.

Underneath the skin, the C-X17 is built upon an aluminium monocoque frame, which will be carried through to the production saloon vehicle, to be built in Solihull. It is also set to be powered by a new range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, to be built in Wolverhampton, which will break the 100g/km CO2 barrier for the first time in a Jaguar vehicle.

“We designed the C-X17 from the ground up from a distinct set of principles, a deep sense of what makes a Jaguar: exciting proportions, clean lines, balance of form. Assertive and powerful, yet with a beautiful sensuality about it, the C-X17 is boldly, distinctively Jaguar,” said Ian Callum, Jaguar’s design director.
