BEN, the automotive industry’s dedicated charity, has launched its latest campaign for the ‘Give a Scrap’ scheme.

The initiative is an opportunity to dispose of any unwanted or unusable vehicles and then donate the residual value to BEN.  This is particularly relevant to all Retailers, MOT Stations, Repairers and Service Centres where customers often request disposal of these vehicles on their behalf.

‘Give a Scrap’ has been introduced to help the outlet and help BEN in one simple process. Working together in partnership with ‘Remove My Car’, the BEN scheme offers an established and hassle free solution for MOT failures and vehicles just too expensive to repair.

On average a recycled vehicle fetches £125 which (for example) would enable BEN to purchase a wheelchair for a person in need – swap old wheels for new and give back some independence to an industry colleague needing their care and support.

Nigel Williams, BEN’s Commercial Development Manager says: ‘We are excited by the potential of ‘Give a Scrap’. Our industry recycles thousands of cars each year and if every UK outlet utilised this scheme to donate a minimum of one vehicle a year it would make a significant contribution to the number of people we can help.’
