Nissan fleet sales experienced a 30% uplift in the last financial year, a period that allows the first few weeks of new Qashqai registrations to be counted.

It also reported that registrations of the electric leave have more than doubled in the same period.

Almost 28,000 Nissans were registered to 'core fleet' and leasing companies during the 2013/14 financial year, while Qashqai registrations in March were 2,000 - more than double registered to fleets in March 2013.

Nissan corporate sales director Barry Beeston said: "The 2013 financial year has been prosperous for our corporate sales with electric vehicles in particular proving to be an increasingly viable option for fleet operators.

"With the all-electric e-NV200 van being released later this year it is an exciting time for Nissan and we believe we will see a further increase in demand for the rest of this year and into 2015."
