Volkswagen has strengthened its fleet team with the recruitment of two new customer-facing experts who will be instrumental in developing the brand’s presence in key markets.

Matthew Mulkerrins has joined as area fleet manager for the south east of England.  He has extensive automotive knowledge having joined Volkswagen from Toyota and Lexus where he gained experience in both corporate and retail market sales roles.

Also joining the team is Richard Manterfield, who has taken up the role of area fleet manager for the north east region of England.

He has had a considerable career in the automotive sector having worked at Toyota and Nissan in corporate sales.

Manterfield’s career also encompassed roles in the retailer business centre development and contract hire and leasing sectors.

Volkswagen UK’s head of fleet, Michael O’Shea, said: “I’m delighted that Matthew and Richard have joined our team to strengthen our relationships with customers.

“We believe high quality people are as important as high quality products, and building strong, successful relationships with customers is key to us achieving the goals we have set for the next five years.”

The new appointments bring the Volkswagen fleet team up to full capacity, with nine area fleet managers, one national fleet sales manager, three contract hire and leasing managers and one public sector manager.

Mulkerrins and Manterfield join Volkswagen at an exciting time, following the market introduction of two key fleet models – the all-new Passat and Passat Estate – in January.
