12-year-old fan enjoys day out at AO’s logistics HQ
A 12-year-old boy from Gloucestershire recently enjoyed a day out at online electricals retailer AO’s logistics HQ.
After learning that Fenn, from the Forest of Dean, was a fan of its green vans, AO invited his parents and his three brothers to its logistics hub on Weston Road in Crewe for his 12th birthday.
The company said Fenn, who has a rare form of complex intractable epilepsy, has always wanted to see the green delivery fleet up close so his mum Sally reached out to AO, explaining his fascination with the vehicles.
The morning started with the chance to explore the cab of an articulated truck and a smaller 3.5 tonne van. As well as seeing the vehicles up close, Fenn and his brothers went for a spin around the AO site.
This was followed by a tour of the 360,000 square foot Alpha warehouse, where appliances are picked and loaded before being delivered to customers across the county.
The boys, aged 7, 10, 12 and 14, received a gift bag full of green goodies, including their own Christmas jumpers and van toy to take home.
Lynne Wood, director of service delivery at AO Logistics, said: “When we heard about Fenn and his love for our vans, we knew we had to do something special to celebrate his big day. We hope the whole family enjoyed the experience, and we wish them all the best this Christmas.”
