Rexel has appointed Nexus Vehicle Rental as its sole provider of rental vehicles.

The company, which has over 250 branches across the UK, chose Nexus due for its vehicle availability and geographical coverage, and the ability to manage the entire rental process through Nexus’ online booking and management portal, IRIS.

Rexel will use Nexus for short-term rentals to cover maintenance of core fleet, medium term to cope with fluctuations in work volume and longer-term, pre-lease rentals for new employees joining the business.

Nexus will also work with Rexel to further simplify its internal processes through additional IT development to enable its 3,000 employees to self-serve via a stringent approval process within IRIS.

David Fisher, fleet manager at Rexel, said: “Rental has always played a significant part in our fleet make-up due to the size of our business but we were increasingly finding our previous supplier couldn’t always fulfil our requests due to the right type of vehicle not being available or it not being in the right location.

“Nexus provided the best response to our tender based on our requirements and with a sophisticated IT platform to enable full visibility of the rental journey, which will significantly reduce the administrative burden, they were the obvious partner.

“In revising our approach to fleet with Nexus, we have a much more robust process for rental management and approval in place and we look forward to working with Nexus to further simplify the process in future.”
