Drivers urged to download new CLOCS Vox app

Fleets operators are being urged to encourage drivers to download the new Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS) Vox app.

The new app allows drivers to send anonymous feedback about site conditions and their delivery experience and covers five key areas including: whether the delivery was accepted or refused, clarity of ‘last mile’ route and instructions, whether they arrived/left as scheduled, the ‘fairness and efficiency’ of the gate team, conditions including access for low entry cabs.

Contractors receiving driver feedback on their projects will have access to an online dashboard where they can review the data.

The app aims to improve driver safety standards and reduce the number of injuries and fatalities and help make journeys more efficient.

Andy Brooke, CLOCS programme director, said: “I urge all fleet operators to encourage their drivers to download the CLOCS Vox app. It takes less than a minute to use at the gate and should help sites understand where things can be improved for all fleet operators servicing construction projects.

“The feedback collected by CLOCS Vox will help address the tragic issue of the construction industry being responsible for over 5,000 serious injuries every year.

“Drivers are often under immense pressure to be in the right place at the right time and are often routed through incredibly busy areas at all times of the day.

“Allowing them to tell sites where improvements can be made can only be a good thing and will surely be well received by all.”

Following a trial period involving contractors in both London and Manchester including Bowmer and Kirkland, Sir Robert McAlpine, Tideway, Lendlease and Willmott Dixon, the CLOCS Vox app is available to download and free to use.
