BCA Fleet Solutions has opened a facility for BMW UK to manage the appraisal and refurbishment of up to 55,000 vehicles a year.
The facility based at Geddington Road in Corby was completed in just eight weeks. The works included the development of new offices, workshops and a repair centre, as a result of the five-year auto services solutions contract that BMW UK and BCA announced in August.
An on-site team of BMW UK inspectors and BCA experts work together to streamline the appraisal and refurbishment process. The approach has seen the average time for refurbishment reduce to seven days.
The new facility provides onsite SMART repair, paint facilities and alloy wheel refurbishment. It also hosts a transportation hub and a customer service department that serves all BCA Fleet Solutions customers.
BMW UK’s remarketing operations manager Stewart Hodges said: “The BCA operation in Corby demonstrates how innovation can be driven through a true partnership.
"We have revised our approach towards our defleet programme to drive efficiency and speed through the process.”
The site features many technology innovations including the deployment of RFID (radio frequency identification) which allows each vehicle to be tracked while on site in real time.
Efficiency is also supported by the installation of a turntable imaging system from AutosOnShow, part of BCA. Vehicles are imaged on-site and are available to support remarketing and retail needs from the centre.
BCA Fleet Solutions’ managing director James Hopkins said: “The work on our new site in Corby was undertaken in record time. It will handle a wide range of BMW Group product and complete work to exacting standards.
“The contract with BMW UK is a fantastic example of how BCA can operate across the automotive supply chain to deliver innovative and efficient processes to benefit our customers.
“BCA has worked with BMW UK to build and develop an innovative, cost-efficient and market-leading solution for their used car needs.”
BCA Marketplace agreed a five-year auto services solutions contract with BMW UK, which includes its specialist leasing business, Alphabet. The agreement sees BCA provide a full range of joined-up solutions from defleet, refurbishment, inspection and collection, inventory management and remarketing both physical and digital for BMW UK.
The agreement is the culmination of the BCA Marketplace announced strategy of being the market leader of integrated solutions for both physical and digital services to the auto Industry.
