1. Fleet management software

If you use more than one leasing provider or outright purchase your vehicles then dedicated fleet management software may be the best option, although it is also the most expensive.

Some fleet software providers have upgraded their systems to meet the new greenhouse gas emissions reporting requirement.

Mycompanyfleet, for example, previously had a quick look up of CO2 emissions for the whole fleet. Its reports now include average emissions for each cost centre or region, emissions by manufacturer and predictive fleet emissions.

For existing customers there is no additional charge as it is provided as part of a service pack release.

Chevin has also added a greenhouse gas report to its FleetWave software free of charge to existing customers.

Fleet operators are able to compare actual CO2 against manufacturer CO2 figures and the vehicles are now graded by emissions using colour-coded eco labels.

The software includes a CO2 dashboard (see screenshot below) which can be configured to suit the fleet. The example shown is Pan-European fleet, giving an at a glance view by country.

Jaama has not developed a new report as it says that its customers prefer to use its report writer and the reports they require depends on how the fleet operates. For example, some have waste disposal vehicles and prefer to slice and dice the data themselves.

Civica’s Tranman software offers customers three standard reports (showing historic CO2 trends by vehicle type; mileage, fuel and CO2 by vehicle type; and total annual CO2 emissions) and along with a report writer.

A dashboard on the home screen allows fleet operators to see their live CO2 emissions in tonnes.
