Van sales keep above last year's levels

VAN sales in 1996 are continuing to stay above 1995 levels, according to figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. In the first seven months of 1996, 39,772 vans up to 1800kgs have been sold compared to 38,300 in the first seven months of last year. Last month 2,488 vans in the sector were registered against 2,019 in July last year.

In the 1800-3500kgs sector 63,061 vans have been sold this year up from 60,838 in the first seven months of 1995. Last month 3,688 vehicles were registered in the medium van sector against 3,274 in July last year.
