BRITISH Gas fleet administrators have come up with a simple means of checking company car drivers' licences without taking up too much management time.

All drivers on British Gas Service's 6,500-vehicle fleet must sign a declaration form providing licence information along with details of any endorsements. The forms are included in the driver introduction package for new employees and the driver manual in new vehicles. They are also sent out with servicing reminders - catching all drivers at least once a year.

The form is also used to keep an up-to-date database of employees' addresses and other employment details and if it has not been completed within 28 days of issue, a reminder is forwarded.
