HIGH performance versions of Saab's 9-3 and 9-5 ranges were revealed at the show, with all models entering UK showrooms within the next month. The 9-5 Aero is powered by Saab's 2.3-litre 230bhp turbo ecopower engine and it has a sports chassis with powered suspension, while the 9-3 Aero is powered by a new 2.0-litre 205bhp full pressure turbo engine and benefits from the same chassis development.

The 9-5 is being launched in saloon and estate form costing £28,000 and £29,000 on the road respectively with the 9-3 available as a three-door coupe, five-door hatchback or as a convertible starting at £26,000. Both automatic and manual variants are available. The availability of low down torque - peak torque on the 9-5 is 350Nm available between 1,900rpm and 4,000rpm and on the 9-3 it is 280 Nm between 2,200rpm and 4,600rpm - means that pulling power is immediately available at low and intermediate engine speeds helping overtaking manoeuvres and driving enjoyment.
