A FACE-LIFTED Ford Fiesta line-up, including a new sporty model, an all-new 1.6-litre engine and revised continuously variable transmission, is to be unveiled at next week's Frankfurt Motor Show. The face-lift marks the last change for the range prior to an all-new model due at the end of next year.

Most of the external face-lift has been confined to the front end, with new headlamps, grille and bumpers. A revised CVT gearbox is available on LX and Ghia models, but the biggest change is the addition of the sporty Fiesta Zetec-S, due to go on sale in January. It has a stainless steel wire mesh grille, unique bumpers and sill extensions and a tailgate spoiler. Interior features include an aluminium insert on the gearknob, sports seats, part-leather steering wheel in red or blue, CD player and electric windows. Its engine is an all-new 103bhp 1.6-litre petrol unit.

The rest of the Fiesta range is made up of Encore, Finesse, Zetec, LX and Ghia, with 75bhp 1.25-litre and 90bhp 1.4-litre Zetec engines, plus 60bhp 1.3-litre petrol and 1.8-litre diesel engines. Prices are expected to be announced before the London Motor Show next month.
