Green scheme nearly complete

A DETAILED design for the Government's ambitious Greener Fleet Certification Scheme is nearly complete and a spring launch is pencilled in. The tender to run the Cleaner Vehicles Task Force scheme has been issued and expressions of interest are invited from companies with experience of the fleet industry.

The scheme, which is to be renamed before its public launch, will provide a framework for action by setting targets for improved fuel efficiency/CO2 performance, provide information and techniques to support participating organisations and offer rewards - the green fleet certificate - to companies which reach performance targets.

Organisations wishing to bid for the tender must have knowledge of the fleet market and have audit and verification capacities for large volumes of vehicle, fuel and mileage data. They will also have to collate and monitor applications from fleets wishing to take part in the scheme.
