FIRST National Vehicle Holdings has made its first move into the ambulance fleet market with a supply contract for the 80-strong ambulance fleet at West Yorkshire Metropolitan Ambulance Service.

WYMAS has taken delivery of 28 Renault Masters and the remainder of the order will be phased in over the next four months. The vehicles will be converted for passenger use by Oughtred & Harrison of Goole.

FNVH secured the contract after being invited to tender in August after meeting strict best practice guidelines from WYMAS.

Andrew Franklin, head of business development at FNVH said: 'This is an extremely prestigious contract for the public sector division as it marks an important first step into the ambulance market.'
