Vauxhall development grant

THE European Commission has approved a £10 million grant for Vauxhall's Ellesmere Port plant in Cheshire from the UK Government. It had been investigating the proposed grant in case it exceeded state limits. But the EC has now given it the go-ahead, agreeing that it compensates the manufacturer for the higher costs of investing in Ellesmere Port rather than another potential site in Belgium.
