As fuel prices rise to above a £1 a litre, a new online service has been launched to allow fleet managers to maximise the possibilities of reducing costs.

Chevin Fleet Solutions’ has developed a means of measuring the actual cost of fuel and an aspirational figure which it says could be achieved through drivers’ better understanding of the importance of improving miles per gallon figures. Fuel expenditure will fall as will emissions.

The web-based feature is called the UseFuel Calculator.

A spokesman said: “There is potential for some major savings, if drivers take advantage of the efficiency of modern engines and also some simple, but effective, fine-tuning to their driving habits, such as not sitting in traffic jams with the engine idling, allowing more time to travel, planning journeys and reducing speed.”
