A Peterborough-based manager is taking time out from the administration of his fleet to worry about the demands on his feet for a good cause.

Experienced runner Alan Miles, administration and data protection manger for the RNIB, is raising funds for the blind charity by competing in The Great North Run in September.

Preparation has included the Thorney 10-kilometre run, which he completed in a personal best time of 52 minutes and 22 seconds.

He has also signed up to run the Brandon Forest Half Marathon at the end of May.

You can show your support for Alan and the RNIB by making a donation at www.justgiving.com/alanmiles.

Alan also has an online race diary at www.running-miles.co.uk.
