Vauxhall’s new Insignia will be on display in both saloon and hatchback form at the British Motor Show this month.

Both models are similar to each other in terms of length and wheelbase and will be in showrooms by the end of the year.

Although saloons are popular in Europe, the UK market particularly likes hatchbacks.

Five engines will be available at launch – three petrol-powered units ranging in power from 138bhp to a 256bhp V6, and two brand new 2.0-litre diesels with either 128 or 158bhp.

A four-wheel-drive version will also be available.
